Abstract

The article presents a comparative review of polymer packaging solutions used for meat products. The main groups of materials are considered, including biopolymers based on renewable raw materials, nanocomposites, active and intelligent packaging solutions. Particular attention is paid to their structure, chemical composition and barrier characteristics with respect to oxygen, moisture and microbiological agents. An analysis of the functional capabilities of the systems is carried out - from creating a controlled gas environment to integrating antioxidant and antimicrobial components, as well as sensory indicators of freshness. Based on the analysis, the need to develop hybrid packaging systems that combine environmental friendliness, high barrier properties and intelligent functions is substantiated. Evaluation criteria for comparing the quality level of such materials are proposed.
